About the position

The Instructional Designer at York County Community College (YCCC) plays a crucial role in developing, designing, and implementing high-quality instructional materials that enhance the educational experience for students. This position involves collaboration with faculty and stakeholders to create engaging and accessible content, aligning with industry needs and promoting student success. The Instructional Designer will also facilitate professional development for faculty, ensuring adherence to academic standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in teaching methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with instructors and subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and develop learning objectives for all courses.
  • Design and develop engaging instructional materials for all course offerings, including multimedia presentations and assessments.
  • Incorporate active learning strategies and appropriate educational technologies into instructional design.
  • Evaluate and recommend instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Provide training and support to faculty on the effective use of instructional technologies.
  • Consult with subject matter experts to gather relevant learning resources and materials.
  • Participate in curriculum development and revision efforts to align instructional materials with established standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of instructional materials to ensure adherence to design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Conduct evaluations of instructional materials and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in instructional design and educational technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • 4 years' experience in curriculum development and course design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • 4+ years' experience in curriculum design and course design in a community college setting.
