Higginbotham, a privately held, independent insurance and financial services firm that ranks within the top 20 nationwide, has an immediate opening for an Instructional Designer. Learning & Development individuals at Higginbotham should possess an extraordinary personality that represents our company and department to the inside and outside world. The Instructional Designer will ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of learning programs and will be responsible for organizing and reporting training needs and results. The Instructional Designer will effectively lead and participate in project teams comprised of subject matter experts and stakeholders to determine desired Learning & Development outcomes and alignment opportunities. This role involves project management of learning opportunities, including scheduling, promoting, and providing results to the stakeholders within the designated timeframe. Collaboration with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts is essential to gather content, review learning materials, and ensure alignment with learning objectives. The designer will facilitate discussions and manage feedback to improve the effectiveness of instructional materials. Applying instructional design theories and models, the Instructional Designer will create engaging and effective learning experiences. This includes designing, maintaining, and delivering learning content and programs within designated timelines, utilizing multiple learning delivery methods such as eLearning modules, instructor-led training, job aids, and other educational resources that accommodate various learning styles to maximize learning impact. The role also requires the use of multimedia and interactive elements to enhance learner engagement and retention. Conducting initial needs assessments and content analysis in collaboration with project teams and SMEs to create learner-centric face-to-face, hybrid, blended, and online courses is a key responsibility. The designer will evaluate programs regularly to determine gaps, consistency, relevance, and business needs, analyzing data to identify areas of improvement and communicating recommendations to leadership. Additionally, managing all training software, including confirming that all systems are prepared for training, assigning/removing training, troubleshooting user inquiries, completing recurring audits, and providing reports to stakeholders is required. The Instructional Designer will measure overall training effectiveness, reporting all data statistics to improve employee abilities, identify benchmarks, and strengthen the skill set of the existing workforce. The position may require traveling up to 20 percent of the year, and the designer must remain current on Learning & Development theories and methodology while assisting with any other projects within the responsibility of Learning & Development.
