About the position

The Instructional Designer position at Red Robin is a full-time role focused on the effective analysis of training needs and the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs aimed at driving measurable performance improvement. This role requires a blend of creative, analytical, and relationship-building skills, as the Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to understand their training needs, propose tailored solutions, and develop customized training programs that align with organizational goals. Key responsibilities include conducting instructional systems design, which encompasses the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning solutions to support the development of Team Members, Managers, and the Restaurant Support Center (RSC). The Instructional Designer will assess learning and material requirements for various Learning and Development (L&D) projects, leveraging training time, personnel, and costs by identifying the most effective learning methods. They will also develop and implement style guides and design document standards to ensure consistency across projects, thereby increasing resource efficiency through the creation of easily updatable and manageable learning content. In addition to instructional design, the role involves project management, where the Instructional Designer will manage L&D project deliverables and timelines to meet goals and quality expectations. They will partner with L&D and other departments to identify, develop, and execute programs that align with project goals and learning objectives, maintaining project plans to communicate progress and actions required to meet deliverable expectations. The position also includes multimedia and graphic design responsibilities, where the designer will produce multimedia elements to support e-learning and blended learning solutions, assess training material needs, and create visual packaging to enhance end-user experience. Overall, the Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in enhancing the training experience at Red Robin, ensuring that training programs are effective, engaging, and aligned with the company's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct effective analysis of training needs and design training programs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs that drive measurable performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to understand training needs and propose solutions.
  • Assess, design, develop, and evaluate learning solutions for Team Members, Managers, and RSC.
  • Determine learning and material requirements for L&D projects.
  • Identify effective learning methods to support core programs and organizational initiatives.
  • Develop and implement style guide and design document standards for consistency.
  • Produce instructional content that integrates into the overall training system.
  • Evaluate training programs and materials to ensure they meet learner and business needs.
  • Research and implement e-learning tools and best practices to maximize training effectiveness.
  • Manage L&D project deliverables and timelines to achieve goals and quality expectations.
  • Develop and maintain project plans to communicate progress and actions required.
  • Produce multimedia elements to support e-learning and blended learning solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Behavioral Sciences, Instructional Design, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in developing instructional materials and blended/e-learning solutions in a corporate environment.
  • Strong background in blended and distance learning.
  • Experience with tools such as Articulate Storyline, Canva, Vimeo, and Monday.com.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills; bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience in the food service or restaurant industry is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and systems skills.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
