About the position

The Instructional Designer at Seattle University will join the Center for Digital Learning & Innovation (CDLI) to support faculty in designing and developing courses across various modalities. This role emphasizes the integration of innovative learning technologies and pedagogical strategies to enhance student learning experiences consistent with Jesuit educational values. The designer will collaborate with faculty and program directors to ensure course alignment with program objectives and compliance with educational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty in the design and development of courses in various modalities: fully online, flipped-blended, and web-facilitated.
  • Assist faculty in developing authentic assessments and instructional techniques.
  • Collaborate with program directors to design courses that help students achieve program objectives.
  • Create assessment and tracking methods for evaluating student progress and identifying curriculum gaps.
  • Stay updated on the latest learning theories and emerging technologies.
  • Devise creative solutions to instructional design or technological challenges.
  • Review and certify fully online courses to ensure compliance with guidelines and Jesuit standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in instructional or curriculum design, education, or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in instructional design and online/blended course development.
  • Thorough knowledge of the online/blended course development process.
  • Experience in developing and conducting training sessions on instructional technologies.
  • Experience constructing courses in a Learning Management System (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.).
  • Proven ability to effectively manage projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior use of the Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML.
  • Basic video editing skills.
