About the position

Apple's Instructional Products team is passionate about helping people discover what's possible with their Apple products — and answering their questions about them. We create the Tips app, user guides, and other instructional content for end users. In this role, you'll collaborate with team members to design and write easy-to-find, clear, beautiful content that supports users in getting the most out of their Apple products. As an Instructional Designer, you will develop dynamic customer-facing materials for software, hardware, and services products. You will be responsible for creating instructional content that is not only informative but also engaging and user-friendly. Your role will involve working closely with designers, editors, engineers, and marketers to ensure that the content meets the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. You will need to be incredibly thorough, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive deadlines. Your ability to learn new processes and tools quickly will be essential in this fast-paced environment. You will also be expected to visualize and prototype compelling alternatives for presenting instructional information, ensuring that users can easily understand and utilize Apple products. Researching issues and developing innovative solutions will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will tailoring your writing style to suit different formats and audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to design and write instructional content for Apple products.

  • Ensure clarity and engagement in instructional content across various formats.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Research issues and develop innovative solutions for instructional design.
  • Visualize and prototype compelling alternatives for presenting instructional information.
  • Iterate on content based on feedback from team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into simple language.
  • Ability to quickly learn various tools required for creating and debugging deliverables.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness to manage changing business requirements and projects.
  • Four years' experience creating end-user instructional materials or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with software engineers, UX and graphic designers, and project managers.
  • Experience in information design, user experience design, data analysis, usability testing, and human interface design.
  • Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting aggressive timelines.
