About the position

The University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering is seeking an Instructional Professor (open rank) in Energy and Sustainability. This position is designed to support undergraduate, masters, and doctoral educational programs, focusing on energy storage and conversion. The role includes responsibilities such as course design, teaching, academic advising, and participation in admissions committees, with a term of up to five years and potential for promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a new laboratory course in energy storage and conversion.
  • Lead the Master of Engineering track in Energy & Sustainability.
  • Advise students in the Energy & Sustainability track.
  • Serve on the Master of Engineering admissions committee.
  • Collaborate with PME faculty and staff to support undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Design and teach new courses and existing courses.
  • Provide academic advising to students.
  • Advise undergraduate student Capstone teams.
  • Engage in curricular development and delivery of workshops and programs.

Requirements

  • Completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. in Molecular Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field; or an MS in the same with five to ten years of relevant experience.
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience, either as an instructor of record or as a teaching assistant.
