About the position
The Downingtown Area School District is seeking Instructional Support Aides for ESL to assist with the instruction of students individually or in small groups under the direction of the ESL teacher and the supervision of the building principal. This position is available in multiple district buildings and is aimed at helping all students learn in a collaborative environment. The role requires a commitment to diversity and inclusion, promoting excellence in education by recruiting and retaining a diverse group of staff. The position is part-time, with a pay rate of $16.06 per hour, and is eligible for benefits if working at least 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Guides individual students or small groups of students in a variety of settings to complement, reinforce, and enhance classroom instruction as directed by the ESL teacher.
- Logs daily work and student progress to be reported to the ESL teacher and/or the building principal for use in designing appropriate next steps in instruction.
- Attends training sessions provided throughout the school year.
- Utilizes appropriate technologies (e.g. computers) as they relate to classroom instruction.
- Travels throughout the school locations within the district as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Proficient in oral and written English communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in the use of technology for individual and system management, communications, and research.
- Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
