About the position
The Instructional Support Professional at J Colin English Elementary plays a crucial role in assisting instructional staff to meet the academic needs of students. This position involves working closely with students to reinforce learning, support instructional objectives, and contribute to a positive educational environment under the supervision of teachers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the instructional process by working with students individually or in small groups.
- Supplement regular instruction and implement teacher-developed lesson plans under supervision.
- Prepare, organize, and use instructional aids, materials, and technology as directed.
- Reinforce positive learning and behavior patterns among students.
- Assist students in developing necessary study skills for learning.
- Support parental involvement activities.
- Demonstrate understanding and respect for individual student's culture and interests.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with laws regarding student information.
- Perform related clerical and recordkeeping duties as directed.
- Provide support in a computer laboratory, library/media center, or other learning facilities when appropriate.
- Assist in the implementation of a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Monitor student behavior/activity in the cafeteria and other campus locations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher learning or an Associate's degree, or successful completion of a formal academic assessment.
