About the position

LinQuest has an immediate opening for an Instructional Designer who will work in Herndon, VA. This position provides hands-on leadership and guidance within and across LQ Programs Systems Engineering (SE) Integrated Team to create training and guidance that allows us to deliver 100% on-target success transforming our customers' workflow to be centered in a unified, collaborative, and effective digital engineering ecosystem. We are seeking domain knowledge in curricular design with the ability to assist in the creation of presentation materials that are divided between several potential formats from PowerPoint or WordPress or Jupyter Book/Jupyter Notebook presentations and compilations to Captivate/Articulate online course instantiations as well as video production. We also seek domain knowledge in the best selection and use of Learning Management Platforms and Knowledge Bases. Additionally, we seek a colleague who will help to create streamlined, embedded assessments as a part of all curricular efforts. This instructional designer will report to the LQ Program/Team Leaders and is fully empowered to execute critical facets of the contract - including but not limited to: interact with Customer and Stakeholders; contribute to our customer-contractor partnership in setting priorities for course development, and creatively combine pedagogical approaches to achieve the best long-term successes for our training consumers. We are looking for a collaborative team member who wants to use modern educational approaches to increase the efficiency, pleasure, and positive outcomes for training; our improvements in training are a critical step in transforming the knowledge and practices of systems engineers across an organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership and guidance within and across LQ Programs Systems Engineering Integrated Team.
• Create training and guidance to transform customers' workflow into a unified digital engineering ecosystem.
• Assist in the creation of presentation materials in various formats including PowerPoint, WordPress, and Jupyter Notebook.
• Select and utilize Learning Management Platforms and Knowledge Bases effectively.
• Create streamlined, embedded assessments as part of curricular efforts.
• Interact with customers and stakeholders to set priorities for course development.
• Contribute to curriculum development and evaluate success in meeting workforce needs.
• Create marketing materials to publicize training opportunities and tools.
• Design and improve existing training materials and pedagogical approaches.
• Lead and contribute to the formulation, planning, and delivery of DE/MBSE guidance and tutorials.

Requirements

• US Citizenship and a TS/SCI clearance is required.
• 4-year degree in a relative discipline (education, graphic arts).
• 4+ years of demonstrated experience with instructional design.
• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent.
• Experience with or coursework in Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Experience with or coursework in creating and analyzing instructional assessments.
• Experience with or coursework in creating active learning materials, perhaps through software such as Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline.
• Ability to take rough ideas and materials from an engineering subject matter expert and create a clear, organized, visually appealing curricular story.
• Strong interpersonal and team-building skills, as well as clear and concise grammatically correct written and verbal communications and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with or coursework in Jupyter Notebook and Jupyter Book for open source course quizzing and/or knowledge base creation.
• Comfort with Jira and Confluence.
• Demonstrated curricular development with a technical subject.
• Experience working in an engineering environment.
• Any coding experience inclusive of web development.
• Experience in leading training.
