About the position

Valiant Integrated Services is seeking an Instructional System Designer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in its Combatting Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Security Cooperation Engagement Program (CSCEP). This program is focused on developing the capabilities of partner nations in handling Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating both instructor-led and hands-on training programs and course materials that are essential for the program's success. In this role, the Instructional System Designer will be responsible for designing and developing curriculum content, training materials, training modules, and instructional aids that meet the needs of the program. The designer will facilitate the review and development of instructor-led training products, ensuring that all materials are appropriate, accurate, and complete. Continuous monitoring and recommending improvements to existing course content and delivery will be key responsibilities, as will managing configuration control of assigned courses to enhance the effectiveness of the agency's training mission. The designer will draft training project plans and course design documents, develop status briefs for assigned courses, prepare agendas, document meeting minutes, and facilitate curriculum working groups for both new and existing courseware reviews and updates. Serving as the lead Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS), the designer will oversee the entire process from initial planning and analysis through design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. A technical review of assigned client curriculum products will also be required to ensure adherence to standard design, development, and evaluation principles. Additionally, the Instructional System Designer will propose training policies to strengthen and integrate executive training with on-the-job leadership training, provide recommendations on instructional strategy, and ensure that all courseware products adhere to the client's course review schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop curriculum content, training materials, training modules, and instructional aids.
  • Facilitate the review and development of instructor-led training products.
  • Facilitate course review with SMEs and stakeholders for assigned training products and continually monitor products for appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Recommend improvements to existing course content and delivery and manage configuration control of assigned courses to improve business processes and effectiveness of the agency's training mission.
  • Draft training project plans and course design documents, develop status briefs for assigned courses, prepare agendas and document meeting minutes, and facilitate curriculum working groups for new and existing courseware reviews and updates.
  • Serve as lead Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) from initial planning and analysis through design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages.
  • Provide technical review of assigned client curriculum products for adherence to standard design, development, and evaluation principles.
  • Facilitate continued development, coordination, configuration management, and evaluation of client's training curriculum program.
  • Propose training policies to strengthen, facilitate, and integrate executive training with on-the-job leadership training.
  • Provide recommendations on instructional strategy, course development, review work for assigned courseware products, and adhere to client's course review schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or Human Performance Technology, or equivalent relevant experience designing, developing, and implementing learning solutions.
  • 5+ years' experience in instructional systems analysis, design, and development.
  • 5+ years' experience in the instructional system design process (ADDIE and other established models of instructional design) and a broad range of adult learning theories and models for evaluation of adult learning.
  • Must be able to travel unaccompanied to foreign locations, possess a current Passport and meet immunization requirements for travel.
  • Experience with CWMD, CBRN, or HazMat desired.
  • Experience in or working knowledge of DoD desired.
  • Experience with international engagements desired.
