About the position

The Instructional Systems Designer I is responsible for creating and implementing effective learning programs and materials to enhance the knowledge, skills, and performance of individuals within the organization. This role involves collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to identify training needs, develop instructional objectives, design curriculum, and select appropriate delivery methods. The position requires an active DoD Secret clearance and focuses on developing engaging training materials across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing and developing instructional approaches and/or strategies to meet training requirements.
  • Compile training and media requirements.
  • Research and identify data sources for instructional material development and additional information needed for supporting instructional materials.
  • Interact with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to acquire supporting materials.
  • Develop appropriate training objectives and test methods, and design instructionally valid and engaging training materials for various delivery methods, including instructor-led, computer-based, web-based, and mobile training.
  • Ensure integrity of task analysis, training requirements, training hierarchies, instructional materials, and evaluation plans.
  • Assist with designing and developing computer-based training, web-based training, electronic performance support systems, and other technology-based learning solutions.
  • Develop flow diagrams and storyboards; design instructionally sound lessons in a variety of delivery media.
  • Assist with solutions to complex problems through ingenuity and innovation.
  • Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor's instruction to maximize personal output.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with creating and verifying Accessible content (508 Compliance).
  • Knowledge of web graphics standards and practices.
  • Understanding of multiple computer platforms and internet browsers and their differing abilities to display e-Learning, HTML5, and graphic content.
  • Skilled proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to manage and conduct training and evaluation sessions in a classroom setting with enthusiasm and clarity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare quality course materials and presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with developing courseware for Navy and/or other military organizations.
