About the position

The Instructional Systems Designer III is responsible for creating and implementing effective learning programs and materials to enhance the knowledge, skills, and performance of individuals within an organization. This role involves close collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify training needs, develop instructional objectives, design curriculum, and select appropriate delivery methods. The designer will conduct thorough analyses of training and media requirements, ensuring that the instructional materials developed are engaging and effective across various delivery methods, including instructor-led, computer-based, web-based, and mobile training. In addition to designing and developing instructional approaches and strategies, the Instructional Systems Designer III will ensure the integrity of task analysis, training requirements, training hierarchies, instructional materials, and evaluation plans. The role requires the development of computer-based training, web-based training, and electronic performance support systems, as well as the creation of flow diagrams and storyboards. The designer must possess the ability to solve complex problems through ingenuity and innovation while working within an agile development environment. Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops instructional approaches and/or strategies to meet training requirements.
  • Conducts analysis of training and media requirements.
  • Researches and identifies data sources for instructional material development.
  • Works closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to acquire supporting materials.
  • Develops appropriate training objectives and test methods.
  • Designs instructionally valid and engaging training materials for various delivery methods.
  • Ensures integrity of task analysis, training requirements, training hierarchies, instructional materials, and evaluation plans.
  • Designs and develops computer-based training, web-based training, and electronic performance support systems.
  • Develops flow diagrams and storyboards.
  • Creates instructionally sound lessons in various delivery media.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems through ingenuity and innovation.
  • Plans daily activities to maximize personal output within company guidelines.
  • Aids in own self-development by engaging in available training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Active Secret clearance required at start date.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with creating and verifying Accessible content (508 Compliance).
  • Knowledge of web graphics standards and practices.
  • Understanding of multiple computer platforms and internet browsers.
  • Skilled proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to command and conduct training and evaluation sessions in a classroom setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional skills in researching, writing, reviewing, and editing technical training materials.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with developing courseware for Navy and/or other military organizations.
  • Basic and versatile knowledge of proven training methods and techniques related to subject matter.
  • Ability to work well with programmers, developers, content managers, and other key personnel.
