About the position

Spathe Systems is seeking two Instructional Systems Designers (ISD) to support the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) mission for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The role involves providing instructional design support to enhance educational services, focusing on military studies and ensuring effective course development and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Advise and assist the Instructor of Record (IOR) in the JSOU course development process and best practices in education.
• Assist university faculty and staff in planning and facilitating workshops, conducting hot washes, and producing reports on learning outcomes and content scope.
• Build timelines and determine the level of effort needed for course development.
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create effective learning experiences.
• Analyze courses for effectiveness and provide recommendations for design and delivery improvements.
• Create course maps, pathway maps, and supporting storyboards for course design.
• Determine course levels, content depth, and optimal content delivery sequence.
• Schedule and conduct in-progress reviews for designated courses as requested.
• Attend pilot courses as an evaluator and conduct after-action reviews, writing post-pilot reports.
• Assist in designing course assessment plans, syllabi, and other required documentation.
• Maintain official course documentation and assist in updating the course documentation library.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college/university or internationally recognized institution, with studies in learning theory, instructional design, education evaluation, or instructional product development; OR 2 years of instructional design experience in analysis and design phases.
• 2 years of experience using personal computers and software such as Captivate, Storyline, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• 2 years of experience providing subject matter expertise in the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model for in-residence and distance learning courses.
