The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) will play a crucial role in developing and delivering training services tailored to meet the unique needs of the Coast Guard. This position involves a comprehensive approach to instructional design, which includes collecting data, preparing necessary documentation, selecting appropriate delivery methods, and integrating learning technologies. The ISD will be responsible for preparing tests and practical application exercises, developing initial versions of training courses, and finalizing training products that align with the standards and requirements set forth by the Coast Guard. In this role, the ISD will collect detailed task performance data to identify specific skills and knowledge requirements essential for course content. They will prepare design documents and storyboards in accordance with USCG Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other contractual requirements. The ISD will also select suitable delivery methods and media to enhance human performance and assess competencies effectively. Integrating current USCG learning technologies will be vital to promote effective teaching strategies and improve overall learning experiences. The ISD will develop initial online course versions, which will include interactive components and assessments, and will conduct formative and summative evaluations, including pilot studies. Feedback from these evaluations will be used to revise course versions and finalize training products. The ISD will also be involved in developing plans for piloting training experiences and will ensure that all work adheres to USCG TRASYS SOPs and other stipulated requirements.
