About the position

The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) position at JANUS Research Group involves direct support at the Submarine Learning Center in Groton, Connecticut. The role focuses on the analysis and development of training programs and curricula for Navy personnel, ensuring that training meets the needs of specific Submarine Ratings. The ISD will utilize various instructional design methodologies and technologies to create effective learning experiences, while also coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide educational or training services using Microsoft Office Suite (Visio, Excel, Word, etc.) and other instructional design tools.
  • Assist with the structured coordination of planning and execution of product releases across assigned cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct needs analysis and assessments to determine appropriate content for training programs.
  • Develop training and curriculum products using systematic approaches and adult learning theories.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time and within scope, adhering to quality standards.
  • Read and understand DOD Instructions and relevant policies related to training and learning.
  • Maintain consistent communication with supervisors and team members.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.
  • 5+ years of subject matter expertise in Navy training systems or related fields.
  • Functional understanding of Instructional System Design for training products and services.
  • Ability to conduct analyses to identify and validate training requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Visio, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional System Design/Analysis or similar technical degree.
  • 5+ years' experience in instructional systems analysis, design, and development.
  • Experience in developing Instructor-Led-Training (ILT).
  • Knowledge of learning theory and instructional systems principles.
