About the position

GP Strategies Corporation is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer who will apply formalized educational processes to develop training programs for employees across various sectors, including industrial, commercial, service, or government organizations. The role involves utilizing instructional systems methodology, such as Instructional Systems Development, Systems Approach to Training, or Training Systems Development, to ensure the integrity of the training development process. The designer will conduct needs, job, audience, and task analyses to determine training requirements and incorporate the outcomes into proposals for curriculum or course design. The Instructional Systems Designer will engage with client stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) throughout all phases of the project to solicit necessary information and provide feedback. This role requires facilitating or actively participating in meetings, both in-person and virtually, to gather information essential for learning design and development activities. The designer will be responsible for designing and collaborating on the development of learning resources in various formats, including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies, to meet project requirements. Additionally, the designer will create instructor-led training using engaging training methods and multimedia products that facilitate knowledge transfer. They will also design web-based training that incorporates interactive exercises, videos, and animations to engage participants. Creative writing skills are essential for generating video scripts, scenarios, case studies, and other materials that enhance the learning experience. The designer will validate learning solutions through the implementation of objectives and assessments that promote learning and evaluate product effectiveness, ensuring timely completion of project components and maintaining training programs and materials. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Applies instructional systems methodology to ensure integrity of the training development process.
  • Performs needs, job, audience, and task analyses to determine training requirements.
  • Engages with client stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to solicit information during all project phases.
  • Facilitates or actively participates in meetings to gather information for learning design and development activities.
  • Designs and collaborates in the development of learning resources in various formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies.
  • Designs instructor-led training using engaging training methods and multimedia products.
  • Designs web-based training that engages participants through interactive exercises, videos, and animations.
  • Uses creative writing to generate video scripts, scenarios, case studies, and other products that enhance the learning process.
  • Validates learning solutions through implementation of objectives and assessments that promote learning and evaluate product effectiveness.
  • Delivers according to deadlines to ensure timely completion of project components.
  • Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
  • Maintains training programs and materials.
  • Works well independently and as a collaborative member of a team.

Requirements

  • Strong technical acumen in instructional design.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint) and proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360.
  • Experience in the aviation industry, particularly in maintenance and engineering, is a plus.
  • Former military experience, particularly with the USAF, is a plus.
  • Possession of a security clearance is a plus.
