About the position

The Instructional/Teacher Assistant position at Muenster Independent School District involves providing instructional support to students under the guidance of a teacher. The role focuses on assisting with the teaching of reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as managing classroom activities and maintaining a conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Education/Certifications.
• Para Professional Certification or Associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
• Valid Texas education aide certificate.
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Some experience working with children.
