About the position

The CUIMC Department of Psychiatry is seeking full-time psychologists to work at the Smithers Center, focusing on individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. The role involves providing evidence-based interventions, conducting diagnostic evaluations, and offering both group and individual therapy in an outpatient setting. The position emphasizes collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team and includes opportunities for professional development and training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake evaluations and diagnostic assessments of patients with psychiatric disorders and psychological distress.
• Provide group and individual psychotherapy to patients.
• Work closely with a clinical team, including psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse-practitioners.
• Attend case conferences, peer supervision, and Grand Rounds at CUIMC.
• Supervise and provide didactics to trainees, if opportunities arise.

Requirements

• PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology.
• New York State license required; candidates must also obtain a New Jersey license.
• For Instructor level: graduation from an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program.
• For Assistant Professor level: 2-3 years of clinical experience in a hospital or private practice setting.
• Knowledge of cognitive behavioral and motivational interviewing techniques.
• Experience in treating patients with substance use disorders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in family, intensive outpatient/day programs, and/or DBT.
• Willingness to work evening hours.
