About the position

Penn State Berks (Reading, PA) invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Teaching Professor in Engineering, beginning August 2025. Responsibilities

  • Teaching mechanics courses such as Statics, Strength of Materials, Intermediate Mechanics of Materials, Finite Elements, Materials Lab and other related courses OR thermal fluid courses such as Thermodynamics, Fluids Dynamics, Heat & Mass transfer, Thermal Fluid Lab, Advanced Thermal Fluid topics, and other related courses.
  • Teaching load of twelve contact hours (approximately four courses) per semester.
  • Advising students and providing service to the program, division, college, community, and profession.
  • Encouraging active and collaborative learning, including undergraduate research, and supporting diverse learners in the classroom.

Requirements

  • A master's degree for the instructor position or a doctorate for the assistant professor position in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering field by August 15, 2025.
