About the position

The Instructor of Cardiovascular Sonography at Lincoln Land Community College is a full-time, tenure-track position responsible for teaching Diagnostic Medical Sonography courses and serving as Clinical Coordinator. The role involves classroom instruction, clinical supervision, and maintaining student performance records, all while fostering a supportive learning environment. The instructor will engage in curriculum development, participate in departmental operations, and contribute to the college's accreditation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction and maintain curriculum for assigned classes, labs, clinicals, and internships.
  • Prepare lessons and provide course syllabi for courses taught.
  • Create a learning environment that fosters student success.
  • Develop, integrate, evaluate, and assess student learning outcomes in support of the College's ongoing accreditation.
  • Participate in developing and reviewing curricula and instructional methods.
  • Consult with advisory committee(s) if appropriate for program/curriculum.
  • Keep accurate records of student performance including following grading procedures.
  • Provide students with timely feedback and maintain office hours.
  • Remain current in one's discipline and participate in professional growth activities.
  • Contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment and participate in program review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree in the teaching field.
  • Minimum of 2 years related occupational experience as a clinical sonographer.
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in both vascular and adult echocardiography specialty areas.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, ultrasound imaging techniques, and pathophysiology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Completed coursework or training in learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology or assessment techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • ARDMS pediatric or fetal echocardiography certification.
  • Experience teaching DMS content in laboratory, clinical and/or didactic settings.
  • Knowledge of clinical tracking systems such as Trajecsys.
  • Experience teaching using Canvas and/or other online learning platforms.
