About the position

The Instructor/Coordinator for the Basic Peace Officer Certification (BPOC) at Metro Technology Centers is responsible for overseeing the BPOC program, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines, and delivering instructional responsibilities to maintain program quality. This role involves administrative duties, curriculum development, and direct interaction with students to facilitate their training and certification in law enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise assigned programs to ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Perform instructional responsibilities necessary for program continuity and quality.
• Demonstrate the use of quality tools in the classroom through empirical data.
• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures for continuous improvement.
• Schedule and coordinate skills instruction with appropriate partners.
• Ensure BPOC adheres to minimum standards prescribed by law.
• Provide oversight and administration for the BPOC advisory committee.
• Complete required applications for ongoing academies and training.
• Maintain records for the institution regarding student information.
• Demonstrate and maintain safe conditions in the classroom and skills areas.
• Attend workshops, conferences, and staff meetings as required.

Requirements

• Certification as a full-time peace officer in the State of Oklahoma.
• At least five years of successful occupational experience in law enforcement or related areas.
• Possession of a CLEET Basic Instructor Development Certificate or equivalent certification.
• At least two years of experience as an instructor in an accredited law enforcement training program preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
