About the position

This position is a full-time, exempt role within the Computer Information Systems Division, primarily focused on teaching Cyber Security courses at Gwinnett Technical College. The instructor will be responsible for preparing lesson plans, developing course materials, and delivering instruction in various formats including face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes. The role emphasizes student retention and program completion, along with maintaining program certification requirements and collaborating with faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches credited Cyber Security courses as assigned in accordance with course standards and approved syllabi.
  • Teaches primarily face-to-face and hybrid classes on campus to promote student retention and program completion.
  • Delivers effective instruction that meets the needs of diverse students.
  • Uses a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to different learning styles.
  • Demonstrates effective classroom management and organization.
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction.
  • Develops program and syllabi, goals, and objectives.
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests.
  • Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 18 graduate hours in the field; OR Master's degree in the field.
  • Applicable certifications directly related to computer cyber security.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior teaching experience in a post-secondary or technical education setting.
  • Experience with curriculum design and development, student evaluation, and outcome assessment.
  • CISSP, Security +, CEH, CPT, or CHFI certifications.
  • Experience in teaching college-level CIS courses in two-year colleges or degree-granting technical colleges.
  • Experience in course and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated flexibility with diverse student population and learning styles.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies.
  • Experience with online instruction.

Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience not to exceed $69,680 per year.
