About the position

The University of Cincinnati is seeking an Instructor - Educator for the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, which is a 100% asynchronous online program. This role combines teaching undergraduate courses and program coordination, requiring a scheduled on-campus presence and occasional in-person meetings. The position supports the university's mission of excellence and diversity, focusing on teaching and developing curriculum for children from birth to age 5.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Early Childhood Education, focusing on Infant & Toddler Care, Preschool Teaching, and Administration of Early Childhood Programs.
  • Utilize best practices in online education, including microteaching and discussion protocols.
  • Serve as a liaison with the UC Online Instructional Design Team and the Office of Innovative Technology and Learning Design.
  • Support students with practicum placements and necessary paperwork.
  • Participate in program service, including meetings, reporting, and program improvement efforts.
  • Contribute to the School of Education and University committees.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in education.

Requirements

  • Earned master's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching or leadership experience in an early childhood environment.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching online courses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in instructional strategies for birth to age 5 education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Connections with Ohio educational organizations such as OCCRRA and the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Experience with online instruction and instructional technologies.
  • Experience teaching and supervising preservice teacher candidates in higher education.
  • Familiarity with data collection systems for program improvement.
