About the position

The Instructor/Faculty Business/Accounting position at Cankdeska Cikana Community College is a full-time, 12-month appointment based in Fort Totten, North Dakota. The role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and is conducted in-person on campus. The primary responsibility of the instructor is to provide effective instruction that facilitates student learning in the fields of business and accounting. This includes developing course curricula and syllabi in accordance with institutional templates and deadlines, as well as participating in program, course, and institutional-level learning assessments. The instructor will articulate learning outcomes, evaluate student performance, and implement necessary changes to improve student learning each semester. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will collaborate with Student Services staff to ensure optimal support for students. This includes selecting appropriate textbooks and online educational resources that align with instructional and learning outcomes. The instructor is expected to maintain open communication with students during designated office hours and manage coursework, student records, attendance, and grades through the Empower system, adhering to FERPA regulations. Timely submission of grades and records is also required. The role involves participation in various college events such as awards ceremonies and commencement, as well as ongoing professional development and engagement with professional organizations. The instructor will also assist students in achieving their educational goals through both formal and informal mentoring. Participation in committees, staff meetings, and training sessions is expected, along with a commitment to increasing knowledge of Dakota culture and language. The instructor must demonstrate respect and cooperation in performing cross-functional duties and may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a major in Accounting or Business Administration with Accounting Emphasis.
  • Current CPA License.
