About the position
The Instructor - Heavy Equipment Technician position at Oklahoma State University involves facilitating learning for students pursuing an associate degree in applied science within the School of Transportation & Heavy Equipment. The role includes maintaining student records, developing course materials, and engaging in various academic and community activities to enhance student learning and recruitment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of students' progress and provide them to administration when appropriate.
- Develop and update course materials and curriculum in conjunction with faculty and advisory committee representatives.
- Assume daily responsibility for the housekeeping and maintenance of classrooms and laboratories.
- Provide tours for prospective students, parents, and other campus visitors.
- Attend and participate in special events such as graduation and student activities.
- Maintain up-to-date course outlines, objectives, assignments, and tests.
- Serve on appropriate curriculum committees.
- Participate in student persistence efforts and recruitment strategies.
- Design interactive and technology-enriched student learning experiences.
- Participate in the academic assessment of student learning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of industry experience as a technician, trainer, or diesel instructor.
- Demonstrated knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and power trains.
- Teaching experience in Higher Education preferred.
- Computer skills including electronic communications and word processing.
