About the position

The Instructor in Animal Training and Management at Moorpark College is a part-time faculty position responsible for providing comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds. The role aims to facilitate students' academic and vocational objectives, ensuring they meet course objectives and learning outcomes. This position is part of a pool for potential openings in the Spring 2025 semester and is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students in the field of animal training and management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
  • Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and provide timely feedback.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, and student academic progress.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty.
  • Revise and update course content and materials in accordance with new developments in the discipline.
  • Update syllabi and collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development and attend department meetings.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience OR an associate degree and six years of professional experience OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
  • Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
