About the position

The Instructor in Animal Training and Management at Moorpark College is a part-time faculty position responsible for providing comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds. The role aims to facilitate students' academic and vocational objectives through effective teaching methods and assessment strategies. This position is part of a pool for the Spring 2025 semester and is designed to support the college's mission of empowering students to achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
  • Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and effective study skills.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and provide timely feedback.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, and student academic progress.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty.
  • Revise and update course content and materials in accordance with new developments in the discipline.
  • Update syllabi and collaborate with discipline faculty on measurable student performance indicators.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development and attend departmental meetings.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or an associate degree and six years of professional experience, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline is acceptable.
  • Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
