About the position
The Hotchkiss School is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic English instructor for the 2025-26 academic year. This role involves teaching secondary school students in the Humanities program while actively participating in the school's community life, including residential duties and co-curricular activities. The ideal candidate will be a student-centered educator with a strong background in literary studies and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach four classes in the Humanities program.
- Coach two seasons of a co-curricular team or equivalent.
- Participate in the residential program with regular duty.
- Serve as an advisor to student clubs and participate in faculty committees.
- Contribute positively to the student experience both inside and outside the classroom.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English Literature or a related field.
- Several years of teaching experience preferred.
- Strong skills in discussion facilitation and communication.
- Eagerness to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Commitment to improving teaching practices through peer observation.
