About the position

The Hotchkiss School is seeking a full-time Spanish instructor for the 2025-26 academic year. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative educator with a strong background in the Spanish language, literature, and cultures, as well as effective foreign language teaching methodologies. This role involves teaching various levels of Spanish, engaging in community life, and contributing positively to the student experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach four classes of Spanish at various levels.
• Coach two seasons of a co-curricular team or equivalent.
• Participate in the residential program and fulfill regular duty assignments.
• Engage in faculty committees and serve as an advisor to student clubs.
• Obtain a public service endorsement on CT driver's license within the first year to drive students in school vehicles.

Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English.
• At least three years of teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level.
• Strong skills in discussion facilitation and professional communication.
• Commitment to improving teaching practices through peer observation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in coaching varsity-level girls' basketball or volleyball.
