About the position

The Instructor for Industrial Systems at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is responsible for delivering approved curriculum and assessments in an applied learning environment. This role focuses on engaging students through various teaching methods, providing mentorship, and integrating technology to enhance educational experiences. Instructors will facilitate hands-on laboratory activities, support student growth through constructive feedback, and act as ambassadors for their programs. The position offers a supportive environment aimed at employee growth and success, with opportunities for professional development and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver approved curriculum and assessments in an applied learning environment.
  • Facilitate activities and discussions that engage diverse learning styles.
  • Provide targeted guidance and mentorship to students.
  • Interpret and administer assessments, offering constructive feedback.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enrich educational experiences.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Industrial Systems program and TSTC.
  • Manage a small class capacity, typically ranging from 5 to 20 students.
  • Be available for tutoring and student recruiting events on campus.
  • Teach two courses daily, with potential management of 3 to 4 courses based on enrollment.
  • Participate in related tours and recruitment events.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a closely related field or demonstrated qualifications in the technology's teaching discipline.
  • 3-5 years of verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved.
  • Verifiable work experience with industrial equipment.
  • Strong Electrical/Programming skills.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Motor Control Systems and Schematics.
  • Maintenance of Industrial equipment and Mechanical Power Transmission systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a closely related teaching discipline.
  • Working knowledge of basic fluid power (hydraulic and pneumatic) systems.
  • Working knowledge of basic PLC operation and programming.
  • Working knowledge of programming electrical speed control systems (AC/DC Drives).
  • Working knowledge of basic machining and welding.
  • Related teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
