About the position

The Instructor at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of education by delivering approved curriculum and assessments in an applied learning environment. This position focuses on engaging students through diverse teaching methods, providing mentorship, and integrating technology to enrich educational experiences. Instructors are expected to facilitate hands-on learning, support student growth, and act as ambassadors for their programs, contributing to workforce development training for client companies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment.
  • Facilitate activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship.
  • Interpret and administer assessments, offering constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enhance educational experiences.
  • Be available for tutoring and participate in student recruiting events.
  • Teach two courses daily, potentially managing 3 to 4 courses depending on enrollment.
  • Provide extracurricular training for industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a closely related field and/or demonstrated qualifications in the technology's teaching discipline.
  • 3-5 years of verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved.
  • Verifiable work experience with industrial equipment.
  • Strong Electrical/Programming skills.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Motor Control Systems, Electrical Motor Control Schematics, Maintenance of Industrial equipment, and Mechanical Power Transmission systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a closely related teaching discipline.
  • Working knowledge of basic fluid power (hydraulic and pneumatic) systems.
  • Working knowledge of basic PLC operation and programming.
  • Working knowledge of programming electrical speed control systems (AC/DC Drives).
  • Working knowledge of basic machining and welding.
  • Related teaching, training or mentoring experience.
