About the position

The Instructor for Manufacturing Engineering Technology is responsible for delivering high-quality education in the field of manufacturing. This role involves teaching courses, developing syllabi, evaluating student progress, and engaging in academic advising and professional development. The instructor will utilize innovative teaching methodologies and maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues while contributing to institutional and community service activities.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines.
  • Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Use equipment and facilities responsibly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of recent work experience in the industry related to the program may be utilized in lieu of the education requirement.
  • Minimum of three (3) to ten (10) years of related work experience required.
  • Certification issued by a national manufacturing association or an apprenticeship program may be substituted for journeyman certificate.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including TQC, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ISO 9000.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
