About the position

The Instructor of History and Classical Languages is responsible for teaching History and Greek and/or Latin across multiple grade levels. This role involves collaborating with faculty to develop a structured curriculum, employing effective language acquisition methods, and fostering a passion for the subjects among students. The instructor will also maintain a clear syllabus and grade books, ensuring consistent communication with parents regarding student progress.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in History and Greek and/or Latin across various grade levels.
• Collaborate with faculty to establish a sequence of skill acquisition.
• Lead students in effective language acquisition methods appropriate to their grade level.
• Teach history using dialectical Great Books instruction.
• Model enthusiasm for the subjects and encourage student engagement.
• Establish and maintain a syllabus outlining goals and learning outcomes for the class.
• Maintain grade books, updating grades and comments every two weeks or more.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Teaching experience in a classical, Charlotte Mason, or Waldorf school preferred.
• Extensive personal and/or professional experience working with children.
• Excellent rapport with students of all ages.
• Strong understanding of the ethos and values of The Saint Constantine School philosophy of education.
