About the position

The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Mathematics position to begin in August 2025. Candidates must have at least an earned master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field, with 18+ graduate hours in mathematics from a regionally accredited university and a strong background in teaching and learning. The position is a 9-month appointment with a teaching load of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon the EVCAA's approval, satisfactory performance, and departmental needs. The successful candidate will have experience teaching a wide variety of courses in the undergraduate mathematics curriculum and a strong commitment to working with students. USCB offers most course sections in a face-to-face, fully in-person modality. The successful applicant will be expected to teach service courses to undergraduate students and courses for undergraduate majors in mathematics. In particular, the successful candidate will teach 100 and 200 level courses, including first year calculus, precalculus, and statistics courses. Student advising, mentoring, and participation in campus committees are expected. Preference will be given to those candidates with a background in applied mathematics. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional compensation for summer teaching is allowed on an as-needed basis. This position is ideal for the candidate who is thinking about pursuing a career in academia with teaching as the primary focus.
