About the position

The Instructor Operator Paramedic (I/O) role is responsible for providing training services at the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC). This position involves instructing a diverse group of Soldiers, from inexperienced to seasoned, in medical practices and operational doctrine. The I/O will utilize realistic simulation scenarios to assess students' critical thinking and psychomotor skills, ensuring they are prepared for various operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that training courses address all levels of students.
  • Instruct, demonstrate skills, and test Soldiers in all areas of the 68W Sustainment, EMT, and NREMT Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) level in support of EMT Sustainment Course and CLS courses.
  • Assist the training unit in preparing for training, including equipment use, preparation, and clean up.
  • Possess presentation skills to train and educate students/employees on technical material and applications.
  • Maintain proficiency with applicable company products.
  • Manage inventory of consumable items and perform Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services (PMCS) on all equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student/employee information.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification at EMT level or higher.
  • Compliance with one of the following: former 68W or 18D NCO ALC graduate, former Navy NEC 8404 or Navy Independent Duty Corpsman E-6 or above, former Air Force 4NOX1 E-6 or above, currently licensed Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Physician.
  • Maintain Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • Complete TC 8-800 or the most current TC3 instructor course offered by AMEDD, with annual skills validation.
  • Comprehension skills for understanding course material and applying knowledge to presentations.
  • Familiarity with computers and basic Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Knowledge of staff positions required to establish and operate program site codes and training centers.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Contractor CAC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current NRP certification.
  • Combat experience in medical specialties (68W, 18D, NEC 8404, or 4NOX1).
  • Current provider/instructor level certification in PALS, ALS, ACLS, PHTLS, and ITLS.
  • Prior experience in instructing and education methodology.
  • Strong communication skills for reading, writing, and following local training procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills for instructing all levels of students and teamwork.
  • Desire to pursue learning opportunities in the emergency medical field.
