About the position

The Instructor or Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at the LSU Agricultural Center will develop a mission-oriented extension and research program to support the sugarcane processing industry in Louisiana. This role involves a combination of 70% extension and 30% research, focusing on enhancing sugar processing through innovative engineering solutions. The successful candidate will engage with various sectors of the sugar industry, leading programs that address operational efficiency and technological advancements in sugar factories.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead extension and research programs in sugarcane process engineering.
• Conduct research on chemical process units related to sugar processing.
• Engage with the sugar industry to identify and address operational challenges.
• Plan and execute projects that improve factory equipment and processes.
• Conduct short courses and seminars for industry stakeholders.
• Participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience in the sugar industry or sugar industry research.
• PhD in Chemical Engineering is preferred for tenure-track consideration.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Experience with project planning and execution.
• Skills in big data analysis and budget management.
