About the position

The Instructor position at StreetCode Academy is a temporary, part-time role focused on empowering communities of color through tech education. Instructors will create and manage curriculum, lead classes, and provide guidance to students in a hands-on, project-based learning environment. The role emphasizes fostering student ownership of their education and inspiring creativity in technology use. Classes will run from January 22 to March 12, 2025, primarily on Mondays and Wednesdays in East Palo Alto, CA.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage curriculum for tech classes.
• Lead and facilitate in-person classes for students.
• Communicate effectively with students and class Mentors.
• Adjust curriculum based on student interests and progress.
• Attend training and orientation sessions as required.
• Record student and Mentor attendance and manage classroom behavior.
• Collaborate with the Learning Experience Design Team for lesson planning.

Requirements

• Experience teaching and/or working with students of varying ages.
• Some level of technical/industry-related experience relevant to the course being taught.
• Strong written and verbal English skills; Spanish proficiency is a bonus.
• Ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Leadership skills to manage classroom dynamics.

• Familiarity with tech tools and software used in education.
