About the position

The Engineer I position at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. is designed to support the design, development, and maintenance of process instrumentation and analyzers. The role involves lending expertise to assist and support supervisors in various engineering tasks. The Engineer I will manage plant engineering and construction activities to ensure optimal facilities and equipment are provided at the lowest possible cost. This includes preparing necessary documentation for projects, planning and supervising the installation of instrument/analyzer equipment, and assisting in the check-out and start-up of projects. The position also requires keeping plant loop diagrams and critical drawings updated, providing support to the instrument supervisor, and ensuring historical files for all Instrument/Analyzer equipment are created and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plant engineering and construction activities to provide optimum facilities and equipment at lowest possible cost.
  • Prepare drawings and necessary documentation for projects.
  • Plan and supervise installation of instrument/analyzer equipment.
  • Assist in check out and start up on projects.
  • Keep plant loop diagrams and critical drawings updated.
  • Provide support to instrument supervisor as needed.
  • Stand on weekend call duty list as assigned.
  • Ensure Historical Files are created and maintained for all Instrument/Analyzer equipment.
  • Assign equipment numbers to AS-400.
  • Generate Equipment Abnormal Analysis report as required.
  • Revise PM cycles according to equipment abnormal analysis and PM philosophy change MI Matrix.
  • Identify, plan, and coordinate training and conduct training as assigned.
  • Purchase and/or store stock spare parts as needed.
  • Assist in cost explanations and propose countermeasures to reduce cost.
  • Fill in for Manager or Supervisor in their absence.
  • Review T/A work orders, projects and assist in planning for T/A's.
  • Assist in ordering materials and bid packages for outside services for T/A.
  • Administer and assist with Blanket Order Contracts.
  • Submit monthly reports including Abnormal Costs, Engineering Projects, Training, etc.
  • Effectively carry out regulatory and quality requirements, including Mechanical Integrity, ISO, Title V, HON, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical or Instrument Engineering from a four-year college.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years related experience and/or training in Industrial Instrumentation or electrical field.
