About the position

The Instrument Mech Technician position at Cavalier Space Force Station involves maintaining and calibrating electrical systems and generators, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The role requires a strong background in electrical systems, particularly within DoD facilities, and emphasizes the importance of emergency preparedness and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning of depot-level maintenance requirement of Power Plant Generators
  • Performs calibration of all identified gauges and meters NLT 30 calendar days after depot-level maintenance
  • Maintains Emergency RPIE and EAID Generators and provides test and inspection expertise particularly in the areas of gauges and meter calibration
  • Provides calibration expertise to the Civil engineering equipment and all test equipment, ensures test equipment is functioning properly
  • Conducts inventory and validates all generators as part of Annual Emergency Generator Inventory Report
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair electrical system grounds and lightning protection systems IAW National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 780) and AFMAN 32-1065, except Attachment 5
  • Perform user-level Solid-State Uninterruptible Power Supply (SSUPS) maintenance and repair and identify all other maintenance and repair needed to 21 CES Site Support
  • Restore failed or failing RP or RPIE so it may be used effectively for its designated purpose
  • Respond and eliminate Real Property (RP) or RPIE infrastructure related emergency condition
  • Assists other civil engineering maintainers in the performance of assigned duties
  • Performs other duties not limited to general housekeeping, safety and environmental practices, requisitions parts, monitors bench stock, supply point, maintains data/logs/files, complies with security policies, PWS directive publications, completes ancillary training and participates in exercises
  • Respond to and mitigate emergency work immediately and routine work within 30 days
  • Comply with Cavalier SFS plans, policies, and procedures, generate and maintain all Government records in the format provided. Provide electronic reports to the Government
  • Apply industry standards and commercial best practices, in the absence of directive technical orders and publications. Comply with local, state, and federal statutes
  • Safeguard all assets and information and follow Industrial, Physical and Operational Security requirements
  • Provide escort support for personnel without unescorted entry authorization that are performing contracted functions
  • Complete the following web-based training within the first three months of arrival and on an annual basis thereafter: Force Protection, and Cybersecurity and Awareness Program
  • Complete all local procedure training at contract start and on an annual basis thereafter

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in electrical systems, power condition on electronic switching systems
  • Three years' minimum DoD experience in Facilities Maintenance (i.e., HVAC, electrical systems maintenance, environmental, civil engineering, property management and repair)
  • Knowledge of USAF facilities regulations and policies highly desired
  • Prior military/Government experience is desired
  • Experience with office computer use to include MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • High school diploma or equivalent; related technical operations classes desirable
  • Master electrical certification in accordance with Federal, State, and local industry codes and regulations
  • Certified in AMMO 47, AMMO 48, or Defense Ammunition Center (DAC) course number 4E-F38/645-F22 (DL) 'Lightning Protection for Air Force Facilities'
