About the position

FuelCell Energy, Inc. is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our team in Danbury, Connecticut. In this role, you will apply your expertise in instrumentation and controls engineering principles to design integrated systems that enhance our operational capabilities. You will be responsible for programming various software and devices, including the RTAC 3505-3, RTAC 3530 acSELerator RTAC SEL-5033 software, and the SEL3622 security gateway using a web interface. Your role will also involve programming SEL Relays with acSELerator QUICKSET software and creating SCR/STP documentation for SS1500/SS3000 plant modifications as required. Additionally, you will modify PLC logic according to the SCR/STP specifications. You will utilize Moore Industries devices, such as STA, SIY, and SPA2, for configuration and installation, and work with communication protocols like Modbus and DNP3. Familiarity with Rockwell, SMA, and Dynapower PCUs, as well as ASCO ATS 4000 and ION 8600 and 8650, is essential. Your responsibilities will include configuring and creating interfaces for communication between various devices and PLCs through the Redlion gateway. You will also perform testing, validation, product launch support, and continuous improvement initiatives. Furthermore, you will be tasked with developing electrical drawings and documentation, including Single Line, Three Line, Wiring Interconnect Drawings, Electrical Layouts, Power Distribution Drawings, Instrument Layouts, Logic Diagrams, and Instrument Loop Diagrams. Troubleshooting and conducting root cause investigations will also be a significant part of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Apply instrumentation and controls engineering principles to design integrated systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience as an Instrumentation and Control or Automation Engineer or a related role leading engineering projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with operations personnel and communicating with operations stakeholders.
  • At least 2 years of experience with INC design, including collecting specifications and purchasing components.
  • At least 2 years of experience with PLC programming and HART communication programming.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Instrumentation and Actuators, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
