About the position

The Instrumentation and Controls Engineer position at ENERCON involves performing complex digital design engineering activities, preparing Engineering Change Packages, and participating in project meetings. This role is crucial for upgrading obsolete analog-based I&C systems to modern computer-based systems, contributing to the growth of the Nuclear Services Group at the Crane Clean Energy Center in Middletown, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of complex digital I&C design engineering activities
  • Prepare Engineering Change Packages (ECP) to replace/upgrade obsolete analog-based I&C systems with modern computer-based I&C systems and components
  • Perform engineering calculations and prepare design studies, project scopes, and engineering estimates
  • Review Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) digital platform hardware and software technical documentation for specified applications
  • Provide estimates to Project Management to support budget and schedule development
  • Participate in project meetings, working interactively with colleagues and clients to develop strong relationships
  • Plan and implement the timely execution of assigned engineering activities
  • Apply regulatory requirements, industry codes, and standards unique to digital I&C systems
  • Perform site walkdowns as needed to identify design solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years of power system design experience in the Nuclear Industry for a mid-level role, and 7 years of experience for a senior role
  • Experience supporting modifications of Nuclear Power Plants preferred
  • Knowledge of digital hardware and software components commonly used in digital I&C system platforms
  • Experience in the design, installation, and testing of large scale digital control and computer monitoring system upgrades at power plants
  • Direct involvement in the entire digital upgrade life cycle including feasibility studies, procurement specifications, design change packages, FAT/SAT test procedure development, installation, and testing
  • Working knowledge of the application of current regulatory and industry digital upgrade standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills and problem identification/resolution
  • Must be able to get badged at a nuclear facility
  • Must be able to perform plant walkdowns, crawling, climbing ladders, and navigating uneven terrain
