About the position

The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on major equipment and systems within a power plant. This role involves maintaining equipment files, assisting with inventory control, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician will also conduct troubleshooting and analysis on control equipment and support plant operations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems, including emergency backup systems.
  • Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to ensure plant reliability.
  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of plant procedures, operating manuals, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Assist contractors and outside technicians with in-plant electrical and control system repairs/upgrades.
  • Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control equipment.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC, and turbine control equipment.
  • Maintain all plant instrumentation and electrical test equipment.
  • Support and participate in Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
  • Assist in training other Technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of IC&E experience required.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Journeyman license preferred.
  • Proficient with operating and maintaining power plant equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering prints and electrical/control schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft systems such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
