About the position

As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 1 at Kiewit OGC Engineering, you will be part of an innovative team of engineers and designers dedicated to supporting projects across the company. This role emphasizes collaboration with Kiewit's module fabrication and construction teams, focusing on construction-driven engineering that prioritizes safety, cost-effectiveness, and innovative designs to meet client expectations. The rapidly growing oil, gas, and chemical team at Kiewit includes various disciplines such as structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrumentation, and control, all focused on delivering dynamic process facilities through the EPCC model. In this entry-level position, you will perform basic calculations under the supervision of more experienced engineers, identify problems, and develop a solid understanding of technical knowledge. You will review P&IDs and mechanical equipment lists to create electrical load lists and one-line diagrams, while also expanding your knowledge through training and hands-on experience. This role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to varying work demands while meeting deadlines under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
  • Identifies problems and assesses their level of complexity.
  • Utilizes technical knowledge effectively.
  • Reviews P&IDs and mechanical equipment lists to develop electrical load lists and one-line diagrams.
  • Expands knowledge through training and work experience.
  • Learns codes and standards to complete assignments.
  • Performs non-routine technical assignments of limited scope.
  • Completes tasks according to company procedures, industry codes, and regulations.
  • Open to new ways of doing things and learning from those around them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in the refining and petrochemical industry.
  • Ability to adjust to varying demands of work and perform well under supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to participate effectively on teams and accept direction from team members.
  • Develops cooperative working relationships and open communication within and across groups.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with P&ID reviews and electrical load calculations.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
