As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 1 at Kiewit OGC Engineering, you will be part of an innovative team of engineers and designers dedicated to supporting projects across the company. In this entry-level position, you will perform basic calculations under the supervision of more experienced engineers, identify problems, and develop a solid understanding of technical knowledge. You will review P&IDs and mechanical equipment lists to create electrical load lists and one-line diagrams, while also expanding your knowledge through training and hands-on experience. This role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to varying work demands while meeting deadlines under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
• Identifies problems and assesses their level of complexity.
• Utilizes technical knowledge effectively.
• Reviews P&IDs and mechanical equipment lists to develop electrical load lists and one-line diagrams.
• Expands knowledge through training and work experience.
• Learns codes and standards to complete assignments.
• Performs non-routine technical assignments of limited scope.
• Completes tasks according to company procedures, industry codes, and regulations.
• Open to new ways of doing things and learning from those around them.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering is required.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in the refining and petrochemical industry.
• Ability to adjust to varying demands of work and perform well under supervision.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to participate effectively on teams and accept direction from team members.
• Develops cooperative working relationships and open communication within and across groups.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with P&ID reviews and electrical load calculations.
