About the position

As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Intern, you will be assigned to work on a project team in our Energy & Industrial Group business unit and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work. These projects may involve the design of new and/or modifications and upgrades to oil & gas upstream production, gas transmission and distribution, renewable, and/or carbon-capture engineering projects. Working under the direction of senior engineers, this internship will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering in one or more of the following areas: You will assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs. Additionally, you will work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data. You will also be involved in system designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major industrial energy equipment and related installation services. This role is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the engineering field, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings while contributing to significant projects in the energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
  • Work on project reporting tasks, including tracking and evaluating project activities and progress.
  • Be involved in system designs and prepare specifications for procurement of major industrial energy equipment.

Requirements

  • Must have an expected graduation date in Winter 2025 or Spring 2026 with a Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience.
