About the position

The Instrumentation and Controls Engineer/Senior SCADA Engineer will be responsible for executing projects in the East Central Market, focusing on the design and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for large water and wastewater projects. This role involves collaboration with project teams, providing engineering support, and ensuring effective communication with clients and stakeholders. The engineer will also play a key role in business development and client relationship management while driving health and safety in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize PLC Control systems, SCADA systems, and Human Machine Interface software to design and implement instrumentation and control systems.
  • Provide engineering and programming support for water, wastewater, municipal, and industrial clients.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and consult on SCADA and Operational Technology networks.
  • Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, and perform startup and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct site visits and testing, making recommendations for control systems improvements.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on large, complex design projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • I&C or Electrical design experience.
  • Experience in PLC control systems, P&ID development, control system architecture development, SCADA systems and networks.
  • Experience with industrial PLC programming and hardware implementation, preferably Allen Bradley, Modicon, or Siemens.
  • Experience with HMI programming using Rockwell Software or Wonderware.
  • Experience commissioning SCADA systems and troubleshooting techniques to maintain high availability.
  • Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain PE licenses within one year.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in water or wastewater treatment process automation.
  • Networking experience: EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP.
  • Database experience: Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL.
  • Operating System experience: Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Server 2019.
  • Expertise applying the NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, UL 508A.
  • Data science and mathematical expertise.
