About the position

As an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer at Jacobs, you will be responsible for developing instrumentation and controls designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects. This role involves conducting control systems startups and collaborating with project managers and design staff to ensure quality work is delivered on schedule and within budget. Responsibilities

  • Develop instrumentation and controls designs including P&ID, wiring schematics, control strategies, and specifications.
  • Conduct control systems startups for water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, cost estimators, designers, drafters, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure quality work is delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Engage with Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams to deliver solutions to clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • 8+ years of experience as an instrumentation and control design engineer for water and wastewater projects or industrial private-sector clients.
  • Experience in design, testing, and startup of industrial process automation systems.
  • Experience with industrial process control networking including Fieldbus technologies.
  • Holds an active professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 820.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to independently lead plant design activities as an area/system leader.
  • Successful experience working with and managing remote domestic and international staff.
  • Task lead experience with some staff in remote locations.
  • Ability to work with Engineers/Designers in Revit/BIM environment along with AutoCAD or Bentley P&ID software.
  • Experience with MCC and VFD control requirements.
  • Some experience with PLC code/SCADA preferred.
