About the position

The Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Intern position at Jacobs offers college students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in engineering, specifically within the Advanced Manufacturing Team. Interns will work on projects that support various manufacturing industries, including semiconductor and data centers, while being accountable for the technical quality and schedule of engineering tasks. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to produce designs for control systems and provides mentorship opportunities to help interns thrive in their careers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of P&IDs and specification of process instrumentation and valves.
• Design DCS and PLC based systems and networking for control systems.
• Provide on-site assistance during startup and coordinate work activities with other staff members.
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation and assist in project coordination from conception to final plan preparations.
• Utilize computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering degree program or closely related field.
• Strong working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous relevant design intern experience.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation.
