About the position
The Instrumentation and Controls Intern position at Jacobs is designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects within the Life Sciences team, focusing on the design and implementation of control systems for state-of-the-art facilities. Interns will gain hands-on experience in engineering tasks, project coordination, and technical quality assurance while being mentored by industry experts.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of P&IDs and specification of process instrumentation and valves.
- Design PLC-based systems and networking for control systems.
- Program PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Provide on-site assistance during startup phases of projects.
- Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.
- Ensure schedule and technical quality of engineering tasks.
Requirements
- Enrollment in a degree-seeking program for Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Nice-to-haves
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit software
- Previous internship experience with Programmable Logic Controllers and SCADA systems
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or on track to obtain.
