About the position

The Instrumentation & Control Systems (I&C) Design Engineer at Jacobs will play a crucial role in addressing water challenges for municipal clients in northern California. This position involves working on a variety of projects, from large-scale design-build initiatives to smaller utility projects, providing innovative solutions in the water sector. The engineer will engage in all project phases, from design to construction support, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with top talent in the industry, enhancing their professional growth and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) and control narratives.
  • Create specifications, network drawings, and panel drawings for control systems.
  • Select appropriate instrumentation for various projects.
  • Provide construction support and participate in onsite startups.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on larger projects.
  • Engage with clients and attend meetings to support project needs.
  • Work with control system software for SCADA systems, including PLC and HMI programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Active California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control system design for water, wastewater, or similar utilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with P&IDs, specifications, control schematics, and control strategies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of PLC Programming, HMI programming, and SCADA systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL and scripting languages.
  • Willingness to learn development of control system architecture.
  • Ability to work in diverse team environments.
