About the position

The Sr. Instrumentation & Electrical Designer at NorthStar Energy Services is responsible for delivering concurrent projects from concept design to the completion of various drawing issuances and final project as-built drawings. This role involves working closely with a team of designers and professional engineers specializing in energy projects, focusing on the design and drafting of instrumentation and electrical systems within a 3D model environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and locate I&E equipment within a 3D model environment using AutoCAD, CADWorx & Navisworks.
  • Design site-specific Power Distribution and Control Systems per company, client, and industry standards.
  • Prepare drawings and concept sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports and punch lists.
  • Prepare orthographic plan drawings from 2D and 3D models for installation of power and control systems.
  • Develop installation detail drawings for all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Size all cabinets, panelboards, cables, tray, and conduit per industry standards.
  • Prepare all one-lines, wiring & loop diagrams required for specified power and controls.
  • Perform independent QA/QC of drawing and verify structural and site-development layout meets project design.
  • Support Professional Engineers during project design phase and coordinate I&E design requirements with team members.

Requirements

  • US citizen, Permanent resident or Green card holder.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detailed knowledge in the application of Codes and current Standards, including National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/ISA-5.1-2022, and API-RP500.
  • Associates or Bachelors' degree in Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering, or 7 years of related design experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in power distribution or controls systems.
